NOMA is located in City Park in the Mid-City area of New Orleans. The park is located on the former plantation of the Allard family. In 1845, the philanthropist John McDonogh purchased the 1300 acre property from the Allard family. McDonogh died in 1850, leaving his estate to New Orleans and Baltimore, Maryland.
